Francis C. Jansen, M.D.

Dr. Jansen and his family moved to Springfield in July, 1990, after completing his residency at the prestigious National Eye Center in Washington, D.C.

He states - "I joined Missouri Eye Institute because of its history of innovation and its leadership in the ophthalmic community of Springfield. This practice provides the same standard of excellence to which I became accustomed at the Washington National Eye Center."

He graduated from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, where he now serves on the alumni board. He achieved a masters degree in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois. After spending a year in medical research, he completed his medical training at Southern Illinois University in 1986. During his residency he cared for patients from around the world.

Dr. Jansen is a pioneer in the most advanced cataract surgical technique called "Clear Cornea Incisisional Cataract Surgery." This technique allows the most rapid recovery time of any cataract surgery available. Dr. Jansen is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Daniel R. Osborn, M.D.

Dr. Osborn, an Indianapolis native, attended Indiana University School of Medicine. He distinguished himself as one of the top 10 percent of medical students and became a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Osborn is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Upon graduation, Dr. Osborn completed his residency training at Indiana University Department of Ophthalmology where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Osborn says, "The ability to restore vision through eye surgery is one of the most rewarding experiences of modern medicine."

In the Greater Springfield Area, Dr. Osborn has introduced the most advanced cataract surgical technique called "Topical Clear Cornea Incisional Cataract Surgery." This technique allows the most rapid recovery time of any cataract surgery available. Dr. Osborn has practiced in Springfield since March 1996.

James E. Bureman, O.D.

Dr. Bureman is a Doctor of Optometry, who is highly trained in the diagnosis and management of many eye diseases, injuries, and post-surgical care.

In 1976 he received his B.A. in Biology with honors from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, His Doctorate Degree is from Illinois College of Optometry where in 1980 he again graduated with honors. While in optometry school, Dr. Bureman was a recipient of the prestigious Health Professions Scholarship Award.

In 1992 Dr. Bureman was appointed to the Missouri State Board of Optometry, one of only five such doctors in the state. He is also a member of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, a position which requires him to test the clinical skills of other optometrists. In 2000, Dr. Bureman was chosen for the "Optometrist of the Year Award" by the Missouri Optometric Association. He is listed as one of America's top Optometrists by Consumer's Research Council of America for 2002-2003. Dr. Bureman holds the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Missouri Army National Guard Medical Services Corps.

Dr. Bureman helps coordinate eye care for our patients by consulting with area optometrists. This allows patients to have quality, cost effective and convenient primary eye care.

Dr. Larry W. Meyer M.D.

Larry W. Meyer, M.D., originally from Southwestern Missouri, is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University’s Shreveport School of Medicine as Chief Resident. Dr. Meyer practiced ophthalmology in Carbondale, Illinois until returning to Southwest Missouri.

Dr. Meyer is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Meyer will provide the same technical excellence for Cataract, IntraLase LASIK, Retinal Laser, Glaucoma, Oculo-Plastic and other general ocular surgery that you have come to expect from Missouri Eye Institute in Springfield.
